Student Hit on Way to School

Police were continuing to investigate an early morning Anaheim car accident that left an elementary school student injured. A spokesperson for the Anaheim Police Department said that the female student was attempting to cross the street at Lincoln and Monterey. She was reportedly in a crosswalk when she was struck by a motor vehicle. As an auto accident attorney, we know how difficult the time after an accident is. That is why we are here to help you.

No Crossing Guard Present

Authorities report that the girl arrived at the crosswalk at approximately 7 a.m., and that the crossing guard assigned to assist students that morning had not yet arrived to direct traffic. The student required transport to a local hospital where she received treatment for her injuries. The full extent of her injuries was not known right away.

The motorist allegedly involved in the pedestrian accident did stop and speak with responding officers. The police investigation into the incident was said to be ongoing.

Safety of Students Walking to School

Crossing guards are typically at key intersections in an attempt to ensure the safety of students that are walking to school in the morning. It is not known whether or not the crossing guard was late. However, a subsequent investigation that addresses this issue may be pertinent to the case.

There are California state statutes that address the circumstances under which pedestrians have the right-of-way. Such laws exist, in part, to protect pedestrians that are particularly vulnerable in traffic.

In a pedestrian accident, a personal injury lawsuit may be filed on behalf of the person who is suffering. We must file a civil court with proper jurisdiction, and it must be filed in a timely manner. Such litigation may seek compensation for unpaid medical expenses, pain and suffering, possible long-term medical treatment and other losses. Furthermore, as an accident lawyer, we want to make sure you receive the best care possible.

Anaheim Car Accident

Aneheim, CA – On Monday, March 10, the Anaheim Police Department reported a fatal collision involving three vehicles. One moving and two parked. Investigators indicated that the moving vehicle was traveling at excessive speeds when the driver lost control and collided with two parked cars at the intersection of East and South streets.

According to the LA Times, the accident occurred late Sunday night, at approximately 10:40 PM. The accident left two of the three occupants dead. A woman in the passenger seat was declared dead on the scene. And the driver and other passenger were ejected from the vehicle. One of the ejected occupants was declared dead at the hospital later. The teenager that was ejected from the vehicle is currently in critical condition; a dog that was in the vehicle was killed as well.

Traveling at high speeds contributes significantly to the severity of injuries suffered by victims of a car crash. So too, not wearing a seat belt. In this case, the vehicle in Anaheim was traveling so fast that, upon colliding with the two parked cars, the moving vehicle flipped over and then and collided with a brick wall, crashing into the backyard of an Anaheim residence.

The tragedy caused by the carelessness and negligence of the driver in this collision—and many others like it—is easily avoided by following the speed limit, wearing your seatbelt, and exercising due caution when driving at night.

However, accidents happen, and when they do the victims and the victims’ families have recourse. The loss and pain felt by the families of auto accident victims is inevitable, but the financial burden that often accompanies such incidents—medical bills, burial expenses, etc.—can be lessened through recovery by wrongful death actions, personal injury claims, and so on responsible party and the insurance carrier. Retaining a competent attorney, and doing so quickly, following injury is crucial to protecting your rights when you or your loved ones have been harmed by the negligence of another.

Two Seriously Injured in Accident Involving School Bus

At least two people have been seriously injured in a collision involving three vehicles and a school bus this morning in Lake Forest. The California Highway Patrol reports that none of those suffering from injuries were children on the school bus.

“The school bus had seven elementary school aged special needs kids on board, none of which were injured,” California Highway Patrol Agt. Phil Apodaca said.

The call to the CHP occurred just before 8am this morning. The crash happened at the intersection of Muirlands Blvd. and Entrados Drive in Lake Forest.

According to news reports, a mini-van and two smaller vehicles were involved. Three of the people in the other cars were injured, including one adult and one 17-year-old; who both suffered major injuries. The cause of the accident is still under investigation and it is unclear what the severity of the other injuries are.

Lake Forest Car Accident Lawyer | Holiday Safety

As a Lake Forest car accident attorney, we know that this time of year is very hectic to be on the road. With the holidays in full swing, it is best to be extra cautious on the road. Tensions are high and stress is even higher. This time of year is always very hectic for everyone. Please remember to stay safe out there on the roads.

Lake Forest Car Accident Attorney | Staying Safe on the Road During the Holidays

We have put together some holiday driving tips to help get you through the season safe and sound:

  • Do not drink and drive! Though this goes for everyday and it seems simple, we know that people have the tendency to drink more during the holidays. A significant amount of fatalities are a direct result or drunk driving. Approximately 42% of New Year’s and 35% of Christmas car accident deaths are alcohol related.
  • Make you service your car. Check tire pressure and tread level. Top off or change your oil and other important car fluids. Check your brake before heading out on long road trips.
  • Pay attention to road conditions. This is especially important when you are in an area the requires chains.
  • Avoid tailgating and following too closely. This is also true all of the time, but it is even more important under certain weather conditions. If the roads are wet, icy, or snowy, you need to make sure that you leave enough room so that you are not the cause of an accident.
  • Watch your speed. Driving too fast can be extremely dangerous. Again, especially if the weather conditions are not ideal.
  • Free yourself from distractions. We have touched on this before. It is important that you remain focused on the road during the holidays.
  • Don’t overpack your car so that you cannot see. A car that is overpacked can impact your ability to see out the back window, which can create dangerous blind spots.

These are just a few tips we have come up with on how to make sure your holidays are safe on the road.
