Accident on 101 Freeway | 1 Dead, 1 Injured

Driving in Southern California can be very stressful. I find that not many people know how to merge onto the freeways here. Being from the Bay Area, I do know that Bay Area drivers tend to drive a little more on the defensive side than here in Southern California. Which, truth be told, is not the best way of driving.

ABC7 News reports that there was a crash on the 101 Freeway in North Hollywood, prompting an hourlong closure of serval of the westbound lanes. Authorities reported that one person was killed and another was injured in the accident. the investigation is still underway, as CHP are still unclear as to how or what caused the accident. Lanes on WB 101 were reopened approximately three hours after the accident occurred.

Should Kids Wear Helmets While Ice Skating?

This week on child safety Friday, we want to discuss the benefits of wearing helmets while out on the ice

Though we don’t get snow in these parts of Southern California, there are some family traditions where going out to the nearest ice-skating rink – whether indoor or outdoor – helps bring families together, as well as provides cheer for the season. So when my roommate asked me if I wanted to go ice skating with her sometime soon, the first thought that went through my head was, “that is a long way for me to fall,” before politely declining. I, myself, am a very clumsy person – so I would need kneepads, elbow pads, a helmet, etc. when out on the ice.

Dana Point Injury Attorney | Safety While Driving

Though there is nothing that can be done about suspicious packages on the freeway, being safe on the roadway is very important. Below are tips that we, as a leading Dana Point injury lawyer, believe will help you to be safe on the road:

Skipping 2 Hours Sleep Doubles Risk of Car Accident

A recent study by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety stating that drivers who are one or two hours shy of seven hours of sleep a night are more likely to double their risk for getting into a crash the next day. the study insists that driving while sleep-deprived can increase a drivers risk of crashing. While the idea of sleep deprivation causing accidents is not a new concept, researchers were very surprised that there were detectable increases in crash risks when a driver had slept just one hour less than the seven hours recommended by sleep experts.

Oakland Warehouse Fire | Death Toll Rises

I am sure by now, that most people have heard of the warehouse fire in Oakland over the weekend. According to news reports from KTLA, a criminal investigation has been launched in Alameda county – as authorities are still trying to determine the cause of the fire that has claimed the lives of 36 people. Officials are expecting the death toll to rise, as they continue through the debris this week.

The building known as the “Ghost Ship” was reportedly a safe haven and living quarters for artists. Reports estimate that the warehouse was converted into a living space. the space was housing 20-25 artists at any given time. KTLA reports that in November, the owners of the warehouse got a notification that the tenants were in violation of city codes for hazardous trash and debris.

Santa Ana Winds Too Strong for Big Trucks

The strong Santa Ana winds came in full force over the weekend. Our accident lawyer reports that gusts got up to 50mph in Orange County. as strong Santa Ana winds hit the LA area hard, a car crashed into a tree on the 101 Freeway in Studio City. It caused a major traffic jam on Saturday afternoon.

It is reported that in Fontana an overturned FedEx truck blocked the Sierra Avenue off-ramp on the 10 Freeway. the heavy winds pushed the truck on its side, the driver was left unharmed.
