San Diego Dog Bites | Second Highest in Nation

It is not a secret that dogs and mailmen have had a rocky relationship. In fact, San Diego is tied for being the second most common city in the United States where U.S. Postal Workers have been bitten by dogs.

Due to events like this, USPS  will be requiring online shoppers to mark if they own a dog or if there. This can give those delivering their packages a heads up before approaching the location of delivery.

Street Racing Causes Car to Catch Fire

A fiery crash occurred in Riverside on Tuesday night after two cars were street racing down Indiana Avenue and one of the drivers lost control of his car, causing it to crash into a light pole and flip. as our car crash lawyer reports, luckily everyone survived the incident.

The car landed near a mattress store where the manager witnessed the accident. He saw the driver was still alive, but not able to get out of his car. In an act that seems almost out of a movie and for all intense purposes was an act of heroism, the manager pulled the driver out of the car, where he was later transported to the hospital.

No Leash Dog Beach: is It Safe?

Our dog bite lawyer reports that dog owners can now accompany their dogs without a leash at a small waterfront at the end of the Santa Ana River in Newport Beach.

This changes a 41-year-old law that once prevented dogs from roaming free around the shore. This will be the second beach in Orange County to allow this change. Though there are not any accounts of dogs having been bitten or pet owners suffering from a bite – it is a cause for concern from the community. Asking, “is it safe to have these animals roam free of their owners?”

MedPay on Car Insurance

Many times people have auto insurance to cover damages for their car. However, they might forget that their auto insurance will not cover physical damages.

Usually people will turn to their health insurance to take care of these injuries. Even when there is a specific form of insurance made for those who are hurt in car accidents.  It is called MedPay.

From a general perspective, MedPay (Medical Payments to Others) is often overlooked and has been deemed as unnecessary. However, when you are the one experiencing car damages as well as any type of bodily injury, then MedPay will be a saving grace for you. It is reliable form of insurance that follows through with new and unexpected medical bills you accrue.

Permission to Pet: Still Gets Bitten

Our dog bite attorney reports that a 3-year-old girl was bitten by a Catahoula Leopard dog on Monday in the San Diego area.

The owner of the dog gave her and her mother permission to pet the dog when it unexpectedly bit the little girl on the cheek.

Dog owners have a responsibility to train their dogs to behave. or else serious incidents and accusations could occur.  This particular dog owner was smart by staying at the scene and cooperate with animal control.

Orange County Car Crash: Witnesses Needed

Our car crash attorney reports that there were a few car accidents this week in Orange County. One in Tustin where two young men died and another driver was injured. in another unrelated car accident, a young Marine tragically passed away in Garden Grove.

Both of the accidents were tragic and our most heartfelt condolences go out to their families.

One common thing both of the accidents reminded us here at Silverthorne Attorneys, is that witnesses were being asked to provide any additional information about the incidents. Many bodily injury cases need witnesses to clear up little details that can change the entire outlook on what actually happened in an accident. This is also true for the outcome of a potential case that could come from the accident.

Accidents and Unexpected Medical Bills

If you are ever in an automobile accident, you should be mindful of the medical bills might come up if you or someone else suffers injuries. As an injury lawyer, we believe you should know this for two reasons. Because of the injuries that were sustained and if you have the necessary medical coverage.

The following are five common injuries when people get into an automobile accident:

Scrapes and Cuts

These can be caused by just about anything inside your car. Any debris that can fly around the car after a collision like a pen, paper, children’s toys, eyeglasses, a purse, the list goes on. Be sure to place loose things in your glove compartment or in any side storage pockets the car might have in the doors or behind the seats.

Silverthorne Attorneys – Car Accident Repairs

As an accident attorney, we know that accidents can happen to anyone. One of the employees here at Silverthorne Attorneys recently got into a car accident. He rear-ended another car and had to take his car in for repairs.

He took his car to the repair shop his insurance company suggested.  the employees of the repair shop were swift and efficient.

The repair shop had two separate employees take photos of the damages to the vehicle and then marked the areas of repair with a hi-lighter. All he had to do was fill out some paperwork and his car will be returned to him in a few days – with repairs complete.

The Importance of Traffic Lights

According to our accident lawyer – and the law – the purpose of traffic lights is to prevent car crashes.

If you do happen to get into a collision at a traffic light, the most important thing to remember is to remain calm. and do your best to remember what happened. You will want to know who is at fault and what happened between lights.

Red lights mean stop! They do not mean, “tease the idea of going” or “go when no one is looking.”

Dog Bite Injuries: Are They Serious?

Over the past several years, there have been more and more reported cases of dog bites. Unfortunately, the damages that are caused by dog bites can be more than just physical. As a dog bite injury attorney, we know that some suffer great emotional stress as well. But the physical injuries that one can sustain from a dog bite can range from minuscule to extremely severe.

Common Severe Dog Bite Injuries

  • Abrasions
  • Punctures/Lacerations
  • Scars
  • Sprains/strain injuries
  • Infections (i.e. rabies, cellulitis, C. canimorsus infections, etc.)
  • Tissue loss and avulsions
  • Fractured bones

If you have suffered from any of the above, please seek the care of a medical professional right away. Delaying it will only create an opportunity for infections to arise and spread.
