Woman Arrested for DUI, Hit & Run
A young woman was arrested on suspicion of felony Driving under the influence causing injury and felony hit-and-run causing injury. According to the OC Register, Aya Ibish, of Laguna Beach, struck a bicyclist in Costa Mesa late Tuesday evening and fled the scene. the cyclist suffered from some lacerations and possibly a lower-leg fracture – he was able to give a description of the car that hit him to the officers at the scene. the officers were able to track down Ibish and administer a roadside sobriety test, which inevitably lead to her arrest. for more information and up-to-date news on this case, visit ABC7 News.
Earthquake Advisory: Are You Prepared?
A recent swarm of at least 18 earthquakes in a 24-hour period rattled Central California over the weekend. the Office of Emergency Service Advisory has issued an earthquake warning for Orange County, just weeks before the Great Shake Out – a nationwide earthquake preparedness drill that will take place on October 20th.
What Does this Mean Exactly?
Well, the advisory warning was put into place due to a slight increase in the likelihood that there will be an earthquake larger than 4.3 magnitude along the San Andreas Fault line through October 4th. Though this slight increase is only at about 1-percent, any increase along the San Andreas Fault line is serious and earthquakes of this magnitude are something that we need to be prepared for.
Car Accident in Lake Forest: One Casualty

The crash involved a smaller passenger vehicle and a pick-up truck. the police report states that the Ford F-150 rolled and killed the driver, which was identified as Jose Barraza-Soto. According to the Lake Forest Patch, the “driver of the Hyundai, the lone occupant inside his vehicle, and a passenger in the pickup truck were rushed to an area hospital with minor injuries.” the crash is being investigated as a possible DUI, but no arrests have been made, as they are still waiting for the results of the blood tests.
Crash on 91 Freeway – One Injured
A car crash on the 91 Freeway was reported earlier this morning. According to ABC7 News, a big rig was involved in a crash with another vehicle. A young man was identified in a fatal motorcycle crash in Mission Viejo near Hot Springs Canyon Road on Friday evening. Record High Heat for Southern California
Southern California weather is expected to see record highs this week, for the first few days of Fall. With Monday’s high in Ladera Ranch reaching just over 100 degrees, we are going to see this trend continue through Tuesday and will most likely not see any relief until the weekend.

Pedestrian Related Accidents on the Rise
The number of pedestrian related accidents over the last ten years has sky rocketed and has become a great cause of concern. According to the NHTSA, there has been a slow, but steady increase in pedestrian related fatalities, see the chart below.

As you can see, though the number of fatalities due to a car accident has gone down, the number of pedestrian fatalities has gone up. Though the study only goes to 2013, the percentage of pedestrian fatalities has gone up from 11% to 14%. Furthermore it has remained steady at 14% for three years. *The numbers for 2014 through 2016 have not yet been reported.*
DUI Suspect Hits Pedestrian
A woman in her early 30’s has been arrested ion suspicion of driving under the influence and a hit-and-run. She hit two pedestrians before crashing her car into the side of the Museum of Broken Relationships in Hollywood on Monday afternoon. Details of the accident can be found at ABC7 News.
